2025 Fall Release

Hello friends,

We're happy to say that we just completed our 15th harvest! Like many, it was not without a few challenges. It started earlier than expected, where we were short a few key people (due to unforeseen circumstances), requiring Michael to run mostly solo for a couple of weeks. Then it ended with a bang, where Michael got injured and had to literally phone-in the end game to our harvest assistant Rachael (who's here from Alaska), for the finish. Grace, John, and the vineyard team of Carlos, Poli, and Juan provided a steady hand of support through it all.

And the other thing about this harvest is that it is a game-changing year for the winery. We harvested our first grapes from our new plantings (planted over the last almost 7 years!) that will result in 6 new estate-grown wines: Chardonnay, Gamay, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and eventually, Riesling. These, along with the older vine Gruner and X-block reds, will be our focus going forward, where farming and winemaking are intimately connected to the complex and dynamic Underwood Mountain and Columbia Gorge terroir and to grapes that are Certified Organic and regeneratively and dry-farmed.

The new wines are coming along well and already showing their magic, and we're so excited about bringing them to you. Look for many of them in our Spring Release. Note that quantities will be very limited in this initial year for the new estate wines, and priority will be given to our members with the longest history in the club.

With that news out of the way, here's our Fall Release!...

As this harvest signalled a transition towards Underwood, our Fall Release is marked in part by a transition away from some of the Yakima-sourced wines that we started with. And they're ending on a high note! Two of those wines come from the iconic Red Willow vineyard - the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2021 Syrah. These are the best vintages of both wines we have produced, and they are absolutely delicious wines, deep and complex in flavor, fuller-bodied though moderate in alcohol at 13%, and aged to be ready to be enjoyed with family and friends this Fall season. The other Yakima wine in the Release is the 2021 Copeland Cabernet Franc (our original vineyard source for the grape) and this vintage is very much in the style of our early vintages of the wine. The other half of the wines in the Release come from the Columbia Gorge and bring the freshness and food pairing strengths in which our region excels. These include: the Oak Ridge 2024 Chardonnay, the Oak Ridge 2024 Pinot Noir, and our 2023 Gruner Veltliner, Underwood Mountain Vineyard estate wine which just received 94 points in the October edition of Wine Enthusiast (one of our highest ratings!). We are re-releasing this, since it is tasting great.

The pickup parties will be held on the first 2 weekends of November. Here's the schedule for them:

Underwood Release Pickup Weekend:

November 1, 2, Saturday/Sunday, noon - 5 pm, Underwood
Saturday will include complimentary pairings, as well as a sneak preview of the new Underwood wines!

Woodinville Release Pickup Weekend:

November 8, 9, Saturday/Sunday, noon - 5 pm, Woodinville
Saturday will include complimentary pairings, as well as a sneak preview of the new Underwood wines!

*** Members (and their plus-1) are welcome to bring up to two people for a complimentary tasting. Reservations encouraged but not required (use the form at the bottom of savagegracewines.com).

Non-members are welcome to attend for a $40-per-person fee, which can be waived with a club sign-up.***

Members have a 3-week window to log into their accounts, add or adjust wines, and complete their orders. Although we highly recommend you try the default wines, any of our other wines on the site can be substituted or added during this period. Here's a link to some current wines that were just positively reviewed by Wine Enthusiast that could be good options for consideration...

All six-bottle members who buy a case will get a 20% discount. All remaining orders will be processed on Monday, November 10, using the card on file.  (If you're not currently in the club and would like more information about it, let us know!)

THE WINES - 6-PACK ALLOCATION (x 2 for the 12-Pack Release) - Here's the list of release wines and the 15% off club price (your discount may be different, depending on the club...):

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Willow ($58 / $49.30 club) - This is by far the best Cab Sauv we've ever released. It's deep and complex, medium-bodied, yet only 13% alcohol, and very balanced between flavor, fruit, tannin, dryness, and good acidity. Even if you don't think you like Cab Sauv, we think you will love this wine. It's not a big red, but it does show a well-developed wine. The bottling aging has already been done for you, and you'll be getting this wine in a deliciously ready-to-drink zone. Recommended for holiday gatherings when wanting to sit back and go deep into a wine with friends. 13% abv.

- 2021 Syrah, Red Willow, Chapel Block ($48 / $40.80 club) - Red Willow was the first vineyard in Washington to plant Syrah, at a site there known as the Chapel Block. When I was learning about Washington wine, I became enamored by many of the Syrahs produced from this site. They were so distinctive and intense. This is the first vintage where I feel like we nailed it, and the wine achieved the wild and mysterious quality that the site promises. It's is the best vintage we have produced from the site, and there is much going here, in terms of strength, grace, aroma and flavor. Syrah lovers will really enjoy this wine. 13% abv.

- 2021 Cabernet Franc, Copeland ($30 / $25.50 club) - Copeland vineyard in Yakima Valley is where we started with Cab Franc in 2011 and this wine harkens back to the style of our earlier vintages. Fermented using primarily destemmed whole berries, it features notes of rhubarb and raspberry cordial. The 2021 is a beautiful vintage and more refined than the 2020. 11.5% abv.

- 2024 Chardonnay, Oak Ridge ($42 / $35.70 club) - Crisp, Burgundian, flavor-packed, and mineral-driven, this Chardonnay is the perfect white wine to accompany Fall dinners from poultry, to white fish or scallops, or to mushrooms and vegetarian. 12.5% abv.

- 2024 Pinot Noir, Oak Ridge ($42 / $35.70 club) - This wine was made from mostly Pommard clone Pinot Noir grapes and brings their signature delicate red fruit (cranberry) and earthiness alongside a surprisingly serious tannic structure. Very drinkable and ready for the holiday dinner table. 12.7% abv.

- 2023 Gruner Veltliner, Underwood Mountain Vineyard (estate) ($30 / $25.50 club) - Because this wine just received one of the highest ratings we've ever received in the Oct. 2025 edition of Wine Enthusiast and we think it's in an excellent drinking window, we've decided to re-include it in the current Release! 12% abv.

An intimate evening of Music and Wine

"Chasing beauty, we stumble in the dark, hoping to trip over luck."

An Intimate Evening of Music and Wine with Grace Hearn and Michael Savage (of Savage Grace Wines)

Friday, May 16, 6:30pm - 8:30pm at the Underwood Mountain Tasting Room.
Doors open at 6:30pm.

Hello everyone, We're going to do something a little different... Back before the wine business took over my focus, Grace and I spent a number of years writing, performing and recording music.

On the occasion of a longtime friend and fellow musician visiting us from Ithaca, NY, we've decided to host a performance at the winery for some friends and invite some people from the winery.

Grace and Michael will play a short set of music at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and include the performance plus 2 glasses of wine. Bottles will be available for purchase, as well. Tickets are available here.

Most of the music we recorded is not online, but here is rare link to one of our recordings from a record called "Messy Blue Ending", produced by esteemed producer Tucker Martine. Here is a review of that recording (to give you an idea of the type of music that we'll be performing).

The music performance will last around 45 minutes with wine available throughout.

Let us know if you have any questions.

thank you,
Michael and Grace
